Greenery Near Totally Leveled at Future ‘Coco’ Attraction Site in Disney California Adventure

High-angle views from the nearby Pixar Place Hotel show more visible progress at the site of the future Coco-themed attraction coming to Disney California Adventure.

Coco Construction Site

Progress is coming along on the construction efforts for Disneyland Resort’s upcoming Coco attraction. The project area sits behind the California Adventure’s Incredicoaster, with other Pixar Pier attractions like the Pixar Pal-A-Round visible nearby.

When we last checked on the project, green scrim had been installed around the work area and a former sidewalk had been fully demolished. At that time, piles of rubble and removed concrete were still visible behind the construction walls near Pixar Pier.

In this latest view, the construction site appears significantly more active. Much of the ground behind the green perimeter fencing has been cleared and completely leveled, with a wide dirt work zone now stretching along the backside of Pixar Pier.

Multiple pieces of heavy equipment are staged across the site, including excavators, loaders, lifts, trucks, and other construction vehicles.

Along the adjacent Disneyland Drive, a long strip of orange barrier fencing has been added along the edge of the roadway, separating the active roadway from the construction zone. The palm trees and other greenery that previously lined the sidewalk in this area have been removed, while an excavator can be seen on one side of the road’s three-way intersection.

Coco Ride

The Coco ride remains fairly vague in its concept. Disney has only shared that guests will follow Miguel into the Land of the Dead, hear some of the movie’s iconic music, and see skeletal Audio-Animatronics characters.

The only piece of revealed concept art indicates it will be a boat ride, and the construction site indicates it will be considered part of Pixar Pier.
