Disney Adventure Sailing Canceled Due to Mechanical Issue, Refunds Issued After Guests Spend First Night in Port

The Disney Adventure 4-night sailing scheduled to leave Singapore on Thursday, May 7 was canceled.

Adventure Sailing Canceled

“The Disney Adventure remains in port in Singapore as our teams continue to address a mechanical issue. As the issue has not been resolved in the timeframe required to start this voyage, this current sailing has been cancelled. We apologize to our guests and are working with them directly to provide support for their travel needs,” said a Disney Cruise Line spokesperson.

Disney is providing guests with a full refund for the sailing and any booked amenities, a 50% discount on a future sailing, and a complimentary hotel stay for the night. Some report they are also providing $500 USD for incidental expenses like flight changes, while other reports indicate Disney is fully covering all flight changes.

After guests had started boarding the ship, the Captain announced the ship was having technical issues. After a long delay, approximately 26 hours later, after the guests had enjoyed the first night docked, the captain announced that the cruise would be canceled.

Reddit user immrx posted, “After embarking the cruise yesterday, we were informed by the captain that the cruise is having some technical issues and engineers are working and that we will set sail soon, today at approx 2pm singapore time the captian [sic] announced that they are cancelling the adventure…and everyone would be getting 100% refund and 50% discount on their next sailing. It’s really disappointing especially if vacationing with kids.”

At 6:30 p.m., they said they were still waiting for a letter with hotel information before debarking. They added, “Good thing is that we did get to experience some parts of the cruise, sad part the shops weren’t open so couldn’t get any Disney merchandise from the cruise.”

The next sailing scheduled to leave on Monday, May 11 is still expected to sail.
