Walt Disney Imagineering Extends ‘Encanto’ Ride Permit Again

Walt Disney Imagineering has extended a permit for construction of the new Encanto ride at Disney’s Animal Kingdom to 2027. The ride is part of the Tropical Americas land, which is set to open that same year.

Encanto Ride Construction Permit

An amended Notice of Commencement has been added to permits filed in late 2024 and 2025. It’s for “Area Development” at 610 Dinoland Drive. This is the approximate location of the Encanto ride, although could apply to the area round it, too.

The permit still contracts Whiting-Turner. The latest amendment was filed on May 20, 2026, and expires in one year.

This may mean Imagineering decided they need a little more time for construction. Because the permit will expire in May 2027, there’s still plenty of time that year for the attraction to open.

Disney hasn’t announced a more specific timeframe for the opening beyond the year.
