During our recent seven-week trip around Asia, we got to stay in a park-view room at the Universal Studios Grand Hotel in Universal Studios Beijing. Check out our full tour, including photos and video.
The Universal Studios Grand Hotel is themed to the golden age of Hollywood with a mix of classic Hollywood style and contemporary comfort. It’s located at the entrance of Universal Studios Beijing, and guests receive Early Park Admission via the Universal Studios Beijing VIP Experience entrance.
Deluxe King Room, Theme Park View

The room has a small hallway leading to the main space, which we will tour first. A king-sized bed and sofa bed sit against one wall with a large mural of the Hollywood sign on the wall.
While the rest of the hotel has a 1930s Rodeo Drive feel, the rooms do not have that same theming. These feel pretty standard, yet modern, in comparison to the main areas of the hotel. It reminds us of Loews hotels like Royal Pacific Resort.

The linens are white and the headboard and sofa bed are both a blue velvet material. Each side of the bed has a small nightstand with wall lights above them. There is no storage space under the bed.

On the nightstand in the middle is the remote control, a telephone, and branded stationary. Underneath are plain white slippers. The outlets include three prong, a U.S. adapter, and two USB outlets. There are five of these outlets throughout the room.

The sofa bed has light blue throw pillows. In front of it is a small round table.

On the other wall is a long desk area. It has a a waste baskets, chair, outlets, cubby spaces, and drawers. One end has a desk lamp, and a blue bench sits next to it. Above the desk between the framed photos is a television.

Each room is themed to a specific Universal Studios film. Our room featured Apollo 13 artwork, which amounted to two framed promotional still shots of Tom Hanks, Bill Paxton, and Kevin Bacon.

Moving back to the hallway, the back of the door to the adjoining room (not pictured) has a small shelf and hooks for more storage solutions. Guests have to use their room key card to have the electricity function. There is also a switch that can be turned on to indicate you want to be left alone.

In the hallway is the wardrobe with hangers and some storage space. In case of emergency, use the flashlight or fire mask.
Next to that is a coffee and tea station with branded cups and coasters, water bottles (branded for the 5th anniversary), a kettle, and other supplies.

Scan the QR code for a list of available hotel products, including themed bathrobes, slippers, linens, mugs, and toiletries.

Opening the cabinet door beneath the counter reveals a safe and a mini fridge.
Bathroom

The bathroom is a standard hotel bathroom with a sliding door (with a mirror) and a single sink. It has vanity-style lighting for getting ready for your park day. Younger guests can use the step stool located underneath to reach the vanity.

There are more branded cups and water bottles, tissues, towels, and some drawer space. There is also branded soap and lotion on the counter.

The drawers have some complimentary toiletries, including toothbrushes, a shaving kit, a shower cap, and more. The other drawer holds a hair dryer.

The towels have the Universal Studios Grand Hotel logo embroidered on them for a unique and fun touch. The branded items found throughout the room are impressive.

The separate toilet room has a door with a special toilet paper cover. The tile work was a “pleasant place to do your business.”

The stand-up shower on the other side of the bathroom has more of that same patterned tile wall, a stone floor, a rainfall showerhead, and a detachable sprayer.
Small bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and bath gel are available for guest use.
Park View

As the name suggests, this room’s windows look out over the park, much like the Universal Helios Grand Hotel in Epic Universe.

We had excellent views of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. We could see Hogwarts Castle and the snowy rooftops of Hogsmeade.

Other landmarks include the towering central mountain of Jurassic World: Isla Nubar, and the decorative coaster atop and around Minion Land.

We could even watch live entertainment taking place on Hollywood Boulevard from our balcony. However, the windows do not open, so the music and sounds from the street cannot be fully heard in the room.

Pictured above and below are photos of the Universal on Parade from our room.

Overall, we were really pleased with this hotel. We aren’t sure when (if ever) we will back so we wanted to splurge. This hotel is really nice and puts Helio Hotel to shame at Epic Universe.
