Swifties are fond of theory-crafting and wild speculation, but the singers’ fans may have been reaching for the sky with this rumor.
Pixar Director Addresses Taylor Swift Toy Story 5 Rumors

Speculation about pop sensation Taylor Swift’s involvement with Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5 began on April 30, when a countdown briefly appeared on TaylorSwift.com.
The countdown was visible for only about 10 minutes before disappearing, but that was enough time for fans to capture screenshots and begin connecting some dots.

The clock appeared to be counting down to May 2 and featured a blue sky background with white clouds, leading many fans to compare the imagery to Andy’s bedroom wallpaper from the Toy Story films. The yellow-and-blue styling of the countdown also drew comparisons to the franchise’s typical logo treatment.
The rumor spread quickly across social media, with fans theorizing that Swift could be contributing an original song to the Toy Story 5 soundtrack. Some also pointed out that the film is scheduled to open on June 19, 2026 — the same date as the 20th anniversary of Swift’s debut single, Tim McGraw, which was released on June 19, 2006.
Other details helped keep the theory alive. Entertainment outlets noted that fans were jokingly calling the possible collaboration “Tay Story 5,” while some pointed to Swift’s history of contributing songs to film soundtracks. Additional fan speculation focused on cloud imagery, color coordination, and the shared “TS” initials between Taylor Swift and Toy Story.
The Toy Story 5 creative team, however, has now officially addressed the speculation. In an interview with creator Shivani Khosla, Toy Story 5 director Andrew Stanton, co-director McKenna Harris, and producer Lindsey Collins were asked about the Swift rumors.
Stanton said the team saw the theory and was surprised by it, calling the speculation “a freakin’ honor.” Collins said a Swift collaboration “would be pretty amazing.”
Stanton then appeared to shut down the soundtrack rumor directly:
The sad truth is we watched the movie being mixed last week, and the song on the end of that was NOT Taylor Swift’s song.
While Swift does not appear to be performing the film’s ending song, the true intention behind the website’s original countdown remains unexplained.
To share a glimmer of hope with any Swifty readers (we know you’re out there), the film’s creative team did seem to choose their words very carefully in their response to this question… Perhaps she will not be found in the film’s ending, but there may still be hope for a Taylor track elsewhere in the film.
Toy Story 5 will bring back Buzz, Woody, Jessie, and the rest of the toys as they face a new challenge: children’s growing obsession with electronics. The film is notably the first mainline release in the Toy Story series to receive a PG rating.
Toy Story 5 is scheduled to open only in theaters on June 19, 2026, and you can check out the final trailer from our coverage earlier this week.
