Guests can finally peer over the Piston Peak and Villains Land construction walls for themselves now that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has reopened in Magic Kingdom.
Piston Peak Construction

While tall fences are currently being installed to block views of the ongoing construction of Piston Peak and Villains Land, guests can currently get a look over the walls from the queue of the just-reopened Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

In the distance, we can see the demolition of the Mike Fink Keel Boats landing. Construction walls remain in place in front of the demolition site, separating it from guests outside the Haunted Mansion, which can be seen behind a painted scrim on the left.

To the left of the Haunted Mansion is a massive pile of dirt, as well as a backhoe and stacks of large concrete pipes.

The concrete retaining walls continue to grow and expand around and into the Piston Peak area.

Scaffolding lines the back of the construction walls facing Liberty Square as the framework of the permanent themed barrier is installed.
Villains Land Construction Visible from Onboard Ride

While riding Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, you can get a good look at the Villains Land construction area, although currently it’s not much more than dirt piles and concrete pipes.

A barricade of somewhat themed fencing has been installed along these rocks, presumably until a taller or more permanent wall is in place.
Piston Peak National Park

Piston Peak National Park is a Cars-themed extension to Frontierland replacing Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island. It’s inspired by real-life national parks, particularly the Rocky Mountains, and will include two attractions: an off-road rally race ride and a family-friendly attraction.

Piston Peak introduces a new original car character, Ranger J. Autobahn Woodlore, who pays homage to classic Disney cartoons.
The land was designed with sightlines in mind so guests won’t see car architecture when they’re deep in other areas of Frontierland. Though Rivers of America is gone, the area will have a small river, waterfalls, and other water features. Read about how Cars fits into Frontierland.
Villains Land

Villains Land is the next, highly anticipated, and much-rumored Magic Kingdom expansion that Disney announced for a new area of land beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Disney has said the area will center on its classic animated villains and will include two major attractions, dining locations, and new park shops.
The sizable park expansions coming to Magic Kingdom are purported to be the “largest ever” based on various comments since the expansions were first teased in 2022 and 2023. The first official details around the new land themes emerged from the 2024 D23 event, confirming the major additions would be themed to Pixar’s Cars and to classic animated Disney Villains.
