Recently Reopened Animation Courtyard Already Showing Minor Wear at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

The newly reopened Animation Courtyard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is already beginning to show some small signs of wear on several of its decorative character statues, just about a week after the area welcomed guests again.

Animation Courtyard recently reopened as part of the transformation into The Walt Disney Studios area, bringing Disney character statues, themed landscaping, murals, and interactive visual details throughout the space.

Many of the statues are positioned low to the ground or along guest pathways, allowing visitors to get close to the characters for photos and to spot hidden details around the courtyard.

During a recent visit, we noticed several of the figures already showing light scuff marks and small areas of wear and tear. One of the most noticeable examples was the statue of Lucifer from Cinderella.

The white portions of the character’s face already show faint gray smudges and light scuffing around the cheeks and mouth area.

Nearby, the statues of Pua from Moana and Thumper from Bambi also had a few small marks visible on their surfaces. Pua’s nose has several small paint chips, while Thumper had a light dark scuff mark near his lower side.

Because many of the figures are positioned at child height and are designed as highly visible decorative elements throughout the courtyard, the statues are receiving frequent interaction from guests stopping for photos throughout the day.

Disney regularly refreshes paint and repairs themed elements across Walt Disney World, especially in newly opened areas with heavy guest traffic, so these small signs of wear will likely be addressed as part of ongoing maintenance. Daily cleaning would also keep these looking fresh.

Animation Courtyard officially reopened earlier this month after several months behind construction walls. The updated area features nods to films including Robin Hood, Cinderella, Moana, Zootopia, Peter Pan, and many others, along with additional seating, shaded areas, and new themed details throughout the courtyard.
