A new machine has been installed at Animal Kingdom that produces animal figures made from sustainably sourced sawdust.
Sustainable Animal Figure Machine
The new machine is decorated with a wood facade and geometric decorative borders.
The video on the screen explains how the figures are made. After rubber trees no longer produce latex, the surplus sawdust from the wood production is recycled. Organic pigment and non-toxic glue are added to the sawdust that is then compressed with a mold to make the desired animal figure.
The two figures currently available for purchase are displayed below the screen. The animal options are a giraffe and a lion.
Buttons near the bottom of the machine are available for those who cannot reach the screen to begin the figure creation process.
Sustainable Animal Figure Packaging
Each figure comes in a brown box that is decorated on the front with a logo of The Sustainables, the third-party creator of the figures.
The figures come with a wood base with “Disney’s Animal Kingdom” printed on the side. The base is recessed on the top so the figures can fit neatly in the space.
Giraffe Figure – $7.99
The giraffe figure is yellow with three brown spots on either side. The eyes are brown as well.
There is a seam down the middle of the giraffe where the halves of the figure were compressed and glued together.
Lion Figure – $7.99
There is also a lion figure option. The lion’s body has an orange tint, and the mane is brown.
Similar to the giraffe, there is a seam down the middle of the lion.
Both figures can also be purchased for a slight discount at $14.99.

The new figure machine can be found at Mombasa Marketplace in Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World.
