VIDEO: Disney's Newest Nighttime Spectacular at Shanghai Disneyland Includes Finale Celebrating Theme Park Attractions

In honor of the park’s 10th anniversary, Shanghai Disneyland has premiered a new nighttime spectacular: Magic Together! An updated version of its ILLUMINATE! show is also being performed just before the celebratory offering.

ILLUMINATE!

Before Magic Together begins, guests can enjoy ILLUMINATE! This nighttime celebration has a brand new segment, which uses the theme of making wishes with favorite characters from Disney films. This portion includes “This Wish” from Disney’s animated film Wish.

ILLUMINATE utilizes projections on Enchanted Storybook Castle, flames, fountains, lasers, fireworks, and thematic lighting to bring the stories to life. The show first premiered for the park’s 5th anniversary in 2021. This Nighttime Celebration was the first-ever to feature Marvel super heroes such as Iron Man and Captain America.

Magic Together

Immediately following ILLUMINATE!, Magic Together begins, although the two shows run almost like one continuous performance honestly. Mickey appears on a semi-transparent LED screen that raises in front of the castle, but he’ll also appear on some hidden side screens throughout the show.

As the show goes on, images from around the park pop onto the castle through projection. Then, characters with magical powers from Disney films appear, such as the Blue Fairy from Pinocchio or Elsa from Frozen.

The show’s theme, aptly named “Magic Together,” plays as we see more and more Disney magic take shape. This is when the castle and surrounding fountains and lights become even more colorful.

Throughout the show, lights dance, pyro fires, and smoke blows from within the guest viewing area, creating something more immersive than most nighttime spectaculars.

Later, we see Duffy and his friends come to life on the castle walls. Fireworks in an array of colors fly into the sky before Mickey reappears to end the performance.

“Magic Together” reflects the 10th anniversary tagline of “With You, It’s Magic+.” The pop-funk song is available online. An alternate bubbly version of the song is featured during the new FriendSHIP! The Duffy and Friends’ Special Pre-Parade.
