Shanghai Disneyland is celebrating its 10th anniversary this summer with new entertainment, including “The Heart of Magic” stage show in front of the Enchanted Storybook Castle.

“The Heart of Magic” at Shanghai Disneyland 10th Anniversary

“The Heart of Magic” is a “spectacular performance that reveals the mysteries of the enchanted crystal.” The enchanted crystals are a reoccurring theme in the park’s Fantasyland, appearing in the Voyage to the Crystal Grotto ride and in the chandelier inside the castle.

Mickey and his friends journey through nine Disney tales on the redesigned castle stage. The intricate set features more than 1,200 LED panels that transform throughout the show.

Performers bring out crystals at the beginning, dancing to an original “The Heart of Magic” song. They’re joined by Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, and Goofy. The characters wear unique casual looks for the show.

The nine stories are Cinderella, Winnie the Pooh, Tangled, Mulan, Frozen II, Toy Story, Coco, Turning Red, and Hercules. Cinderella dances to “A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes” in her ballgown.

Winnie the Pooh and performers dressed as bees dance to “Everything Is Honey.” The songs alternate between English and Chinese.

Rapunzel and Flynn are joined by thugs for a performance of “I’ve Got a Dream.”

Then Mulan, in her soldier uniform, leads a flag-spinning number set to “Loyal Brave True” from the live-action film.

The show marks Hercules’ first-ever appearance in Shanghai Disneyland. He’s supposed to “fly” on Pegasus as he sings “Go the Distance” but unfortunately the effect was not in working order when we saw the show. Instead, Hercules just stood on stage by himself.

Elsa and dancers dressed like forest spirits perform “Show Yourself” from Frozen II.

Woody and Buzz Lightyear are joined by performers dressed as other toys for “You’ve Got a Friend in Me.”

Miguel from Coco performs “Remember Me” along with an appearance by Pepita the alebrije.

Last up is Turning Red with a mash-up of “Nobody Like U” and “U Know What’s Up.”

Mickey and Friends return with all the characters for a reprise of the theme song. The show is about 20 minutes.
