An internal sting operation by Disney Investigations caught a thieving housekeeper in the act at a Walt Disney World hotel, resulting in an arrest.

WDW Active Crime reported the news of the arrest, which happened on April 24, 2026, at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. Disney Investigations, the company’s internal security team, caught the housekeeper via a sting operation: the investigators rigged a vacant hotel room with hidden surveillance cameras, staged it to appear occupied, and placed a wallet with $300 cash in the room. The hotel assigned the housekeeper the room on her rounds, and investigators observed her working live from another room.

While watching, the investigators saw the housekeeper handle and move the wallet multiple times, before wrapping it in a cleaning cloth and leaving with it. After confirming the wallet was missing from the staged room, the investigators searched the housekeeper’s cart and found the wallet hidden in dirty linens, still containing the same $300.

After the footage and a sworn statement were submitted to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the housekeeper was arrested and charged with Theft from a Public Lodging Establishment.
