An earthquake was just felt at Walt Disney World, which is almost unheard of for the area. There was a 6.4 magnitude earthquake off the west coast of Cuba in Mantuba this afternoon, June 8.

At this time, there is “No Tsunami Warning, Advisory, Watch, or Threat” warning for any affected area.

The quake could be felt throughout Central Florida, including Walt Disney World and surrounding area. Several members of our WDWNT staff felt tremors during the time of the earthquake. It lasted approximately 10-15 seconds shortly before 2:10 p.m.

Update 3:00 p.m.: Several Magic Kingdom attractions are closed, including The Barnstormer, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Country Bear Musical Jamboree, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Space Mountain, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, TRON Lightcycle / Run, and Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid. We are unsure if this is related to the earthquake. It’s possible the earthquake was felt the hardest in the Magic Kingdom area.

Stay tuned, as this is a developing story.
