Building Near The Haunted Mansion Enclosed at Magic Kingdom

The building near The Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom has now been enclosed by walls amid construction in the area.

Building Construction

During our visit on June 29, we saw that the new extension added to the building near The Haunted Mansion had been recently enclosed by walls. The new roof section is still just framed, but we anticipate it will be covered shortly.

For several years, the building has acted as an extension of The Haunted Mansion queue, but it was blocked by construction walls earlier this year. From the other side of the Piston Peak construction site, the new extension juts out of the building, which sits across from Memento Mori. Here’s a zoomed-in look:

We don’t know if this building will continue to act as an extended queue for The Haunted Mansion or get a new purpose when all the construction in the area is complete. Right now, there is a big gap between it and the mansion’s main entrance where the Mike Fink Keel Boats landing used to be.

Above are photos from before and after the landing’s demolition.

The extension is probably related to a permit filed for the landing earlier this year. The Walt Disney Imagineering permit contracted MLC Theming for “General Construction.” Given the involvement of a theming company, it seemed odd if the permit was only for the landing’s demolition. Now we know MLC is probably working on this building extension.

The building is not visible in either the Piston Peak National Park “fun map” or concept art.

The Haunted Mansion, meanwhile, has been going through an exterior refurbishment with a rumored extension of its own. Scrim recently began to come down from the facade.
