Universal Studios Hollywood concluded a large refurbishment, reconfiguring the main entrance and securing CityWalk by moving security scanners to the sides of the Central and East parking garages, in addition to the original main entrance security.

Previously, CityWalk was not secure so anyone could walk in and out without needing to pass through security scanners. It was essentially an outdoor shopping area with no security. Now, the main entrance has been reconfigured to ensure CityWalk is only accessible after going through security.

It’s now similar to CityWalk in Universal Orlando, as well as Disney Springs and Downtown Disney at Disney World and Disneyland, respectively.

There are also now only three entry points into Universal. The East entrance is at the end of CityWalk. It’s for guests coming from Curious George, E.T., and Jurassic parking garages.

There is only one exit on that side.

The Central entrance is behind NBC Grill and the back side of the Jurassic parking garage.

All of the other entrances/exits for the CityWalk garages are now for emergencies only.

Lastly, the West entrance is the original security gates at the front of the park.

They now just have walls on either side of them and they are for guests coming from hotels and front of the park parking lots.

Walls now fully surround CityWalk and the park, making it a Universal “bubble” of sorts.

The park exit is in the same place, but there is now a wall separating exiting guests from the lots so they can go back to CityWalk or choose to leave to the lots at a later exit point.

The changes also ensure guest can now freely walk between CityWalk and Universal Studios Hollywood.
