To commemorate 626 Day, Disney shared a side-by-side storyboard to show fans the concepts that went into making Lilo & Stitch.

In the storyboard scene, we see the moment Lilo first encountered Stitch at the animal shelter. From the early concepts to the finished product, you can see the small changes that happened in between, but both characters are definitely recognizable.
