Disney Shows Construction Sites for The Magic of Disney Animation, Monstropolis, and More

Disney is showing a behind-the-scenes look at the construction sites for The Magic of Disney Animation and Monstropolis, both at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. We also got a quick look at Goofy’s refresh on the Disney Magic.

The Magic of Disney Animation

In the clip, we see the Drawn to Wonderland area with a Mad Hatter house. The play space will be for all different ages and have several interactive elements. Disney recently released the map of the space, as well are more concept art.

In the clip, we see the Drawn to Wonderland area with a Mad Hatter house. The play space will be for all different ages under 5 and have several interactive elements. Disney recently released the map of the space, as well are more concept art. It’s inspired by the original Alice in Wonderland concept art from Disney Legend Mary Blair.

“Drawn to Wonderland” comes to life through bold colors, whimsical shapes, and Blair’s unmistakable artistic style. One of Imagineer’s favorite pieces of playground equipment allows guests to choose to paint roses red or white with the spinning play feature.

Other experiences in The Magic of Disney Animation include a new Animation Academy experience hosted by Olaf (instead of live artists) and six new meet and greets.

Monstropolis

We also got a look at Monstropolis behind the scenes. We can only see so much from our reporting in the park! While there is a lot of scaffolding and scrim, we get a bit of a closer look of the facades, store fronts, and more. Imagineers are bringing the elements into this world like claws, scales, horns, etc. Read more about the land's backstory.

Additionally, Disney recently took the Goofy stern down from the Disney Magic to get new paint job and minor repairs. He was reinstalled after a few days.
