“The strong response we have received so far has been incredible,” the California State Treasurer’s Office said in an email. Per a post on California State Treasurer Fiona Ma’s Instagram, over 44,000 people have “expressed interest” in the license plates.

Now that the plate is moving forward, the design and presale orders will launch sometime in the next few months.

At this time, the cost is as follows:

  • $50 standard Disneyland plate
  • $103 personalized Disneyland plate
  • $40 to $83 annual DMV renewal fee

You can still add your name to the interest list here.

At the beginning of May, the endeavor to check interest in these license plates was launched in California.

This endeavor between Ma’s office and California Children’s Hospital Association and the California Health Facilities Financing Authority (CHFFA) will raise funds for hospitals. Specifically, the license plate sales will raise money for 13 children’s hospitals throughout California.

According to the license plate interest application form:

The revenue generated from the sale of these specialized license plates, after deducting administrative fees, would be deposited into a program fund established in the State Treasury and administered by CHFFA to be awarded to 13 children’s hospitals in California that participated in CHFFA-administered Children’s Hospital Bond Acts of 2004, 2008, and 2018.

This program is being designed in collaboration with our partners to support essential but uncompensated healthcare services and programs, such as certain personnel and clinical education costs as well as patient- and family-centered support services that support children’s care, recovery, and well-being.
