Dividers Installed at EPCOT Parking Entrance, Prevent Guests from Switching Lanes

Drivers arriving at EPCOT now have a new layer of lane guidance before reaching the park’s parking booths. Dividers have been installed, which prevent guests from switching lanes.

Lane Dividers at EPCOT

New white lane dividers have been installed ahead of the EPCOT toll plaza gates at Walt Disney World. The dividers are positioned directly on the roadway and run parallel to the traffic lanes leading up to each toll plaza booth beneath the large EPCOT welcome sign.

The low-profile dividers now line all of the approach lanes, creating more defined channels for vehicles as they move toward the individual booths. They are installed on the pavement itself rather than appearing to be temporary cones or movable traffic markers.

The new dividers are visible on both sides of multiple lanes, stretching toward the booth area and stop signs. The setup appears designed to keep vehicles more clearly aligned with their selected lane as they approach the entrance plaza, and perhaps more importantly, discourage drivers from making abrupt last minute lane adjustments as toll booths open up.

Instagram user localfloridagal shared a reel showing additional angles on the new dividers.

The dividers appear to extend about six or seven car lengths in distance between the start and end of the dividers.

The new lane dividers are accompanied by preexisting black-and-yellow speed bumps. Some of these speed bumps were installed just last year, suggesting these entrance changes may be part of long-term plans to adjust the entryway area.

Disney has not announced a specific project tied to the recent installation. The company has historically made quiet adjustments to parking lots across the resort, presumably in service of improving traffic flows and pedestrian safety.
