It’s a small world after all, but unfortunately, sometimes the ride’s operating hours are even smaller, which was the case for the iconic attraction at Magic Kingdom yesterday.

Unplanned it’s a small world Closure

Guests hoping to enjoy the happiest cruise that ever sailed had a much harder time doing so on Saturday, June 6, as “it’s a small world” spent most of the day unavailable at Magic Kingdom.

According to tracked wait times from Saturday, June 6, “it’s a small world” opened the day with a short posted wait, rising from 5 minutes at 9 a.m. to 10 minutes at 10 a.m, pretty typical for the attraction.

By 11 a.m., however, the Fantasyland boat ride was listed as temporarily closed. The closure continued hour after hour throughout the afternoon and evening. The attraction was still listed as temporarily closed at 8 p.m., meaning the ride was unavailable for roughly 10 consecutive hours during regular park operations.

Magic Kingdom was open from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on June 6, with Early Entry beginning at 8:30 a.m. The closure of “it’s a small world” was not listed as a scheduled refurbishment, and Disney has not announced a long-term closure for the classic Fantasyland attraction.

“it’s a small world” remains one of Magic Kingdom’s original opening-day-style family attractions, known best for its Mary Blair designs and the Sherman Brothers’ earworm theme song.

Temporary ride closures are common at Walt Disney World, but a closure lasting most of the operating day is more notable, especially for a high-capacity attraction that typically helps absorb Fantasyland crowds.
