Disney premiered a surprise Lilo & Stitch animated short, plus announced a Finding Nemo short at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival on Friday, June 26.

Lilo & Scratch

Titled Lilo & Scratch, the short features Stitch, Lilo, and a new rescue cat character (Scratch) intent on eating Pudge the fish. It’s set soon after the first movie. Chris Sanders reprises his role as Stitch with Maia Kealoha, the star of the 2025 live-action Lilo & Stitch, voicing Lilo.

According to Nexus Point News, Lilo and Stitch are CG models while Scratch is hand drawn. The short is directed by Fawn Veerasunthorn and artists from the original film returned, including Alex Kupershmidt.

“The original film has made such a huge impact on our artistic journey and the same goes for many of the artists on our team who reached out to us when they heard we were pitching a Stitch short,” Veerasunthorn said. “Not only did we assemble all the Lilo & Stitch fans at the studio, this group of animation nerds like us also got to work with the artists who actually worked on the original film.

“We have the incredible good fortune to work alongside the original supervising animator for Stitch, Mr. Alex Kupershmidt… he’s  always reminding us this is a cartoon. Push it very, very far. What are you afraid for?” (via Deadline)

The short will run in front of Hexed, in theaters on November 25, 2026.

Loving Dory

As for Pixar’s Finding Nemo short, it will be called Loving Dory and see Dory falling in love with a plastic bag that she thinks is a jellyfish. It’s directed by Lou Hamou-Lhadj and produced by Mary Alice Drumm. Check out the concept art below:

It will be in theaters, although Pixar did not announce what feature film it will be attached to.

The next theatrical Pixar release will be Gatto on March 5, 2027.
