Name of Disney World’s Monstropolis Land Seemingly Confirmed

Disney has seemingly confirmed the name of the new Monsters, Inc. land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be Monstropolis.

Though Disney has often referred to Monstropolis (the fictional city in the Pixar film) in relation to the land, it was unclear if that would be the official name. Disney has also referred to the area as the “new Monsters, Inc. land” or the “world of Monsters, Inc.” It wouldn’t be out of the question for the land to have a name like Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge (which is set on the planet of Batuu) or Pandora – The World of Avatar (which is set in the Valley of Mo’ara on Pandora).

Last fall, Disney filed a trademark application for the term “Monstropolis,” covering a variety of uses including amusement park services and entertainment. This was the first indication that “Monstropolis” would be the official name.

Now, Disney’s reveal about the land’s backstory repeatedly refers to the area as “Monstropolis,” apparently confirming the name.

Monstropolis replaces Muppets Courtyard and will include Monsters, Inc. (home to a new roller-coaster), Harryhausen’s, and the Glob Theater. It’s set during a new “HR” holiday, H.U.M.A.N. Day, hoping to connect monsters and humans for the first time.
