After four years with little to no news about Kingdom Hearts IV, Square Enix revealed footage from the game during the Nintendo Direct on Tuesday.

The game was first announced with a trailer in 2022 in honor of the first game’s 20th anniversary.
Though a release date or timeframe for the fourth installment still hasn’t been announced, we now know it will be available on the Nintendo Switch 2 at launch.
New Kingdom Hearts collections featuring the first three games will be released on Switch 2 in October.

The first Kingdom Hearts was released in 2002 for PlayStation 2.
The last major Kingdom Hearts game, Kingdom Hearts III, was released in 2019. Rhythm-based game Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory was released in 2020. Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind, a port of the third game including the Re Mind DLC, has been released on various platforms since 2021.
