Animator Peter Browngardt has called out Pixar for “ripping off” one of his character designs in the upcoming film, Toy Story 5.
Pixar Accused of Plagiarism

Peter Browngardt is known for his animated Cartoon Network show, Uncle Grandpa, where he voiced the titular character. In the show, there is a character called Pizza Steve, who is a sunglasses-wearing pizza slice, similar looking to Toy Story 5‘s Pizza with Sunglasses, voiced by Bad Bunny.
Browngardt shared his disapproval for the Toy Story 5 character design on X, where he said, “Pizza Steve is gonna be in Toy Story 5!?! Oh wait, they just ripped off Uncle Grandpa,” along with a thumbs-down emoji.

The latest film in the Toy Story franchise involves Buzz, Woody, Jessie, and the rest of the gang being challenged when “they’re introduced to what kids are obsessed with today… electronics!”
Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and Joan Cusack return for their respective roles as Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie. New characters Lilypad (Greta Lee) and Smarty Pants (Conan O’Brien) also join the cast.
Ernie Hudson is taking over as Combat Carl from the late Carl Weathers. Blake Clark is expected to return as Slinky Dog, a role he took over from Jim Varney, who passed away in 2000. In addition, Alan Cumming will voice Evil Bullseye.
Toy Story 5 releases in theaters on June 19, 2026. Theater novelties have also been announced already. Watch the final trailer below:
