Previously Delayed Marc Davis Scenes Now Appearing Along Rivers of the Far West

Several new animal scenes are beginning to appear along the Rivers of the Far West at Thunder Mesa Riverboat Landing, as promised by Disneyland Paris last year.

New Rivers of the Far West Scenes

Several new animal scenes are beginning to appear along the Rivers of the Far West at Thunder Mesa Riverboat Landing.

Guests can now begin spotting new animal figures along the banks of the Rivers of the Far West.

Four new scenes are being installed gradually over the coming weeks, marking a major milestone for a project that was previously announced but had yet to materialize.

The new figures, including a buffalo on a prairie and racoons and a skunk on a floating log, have been specially redesigned and produced for the project by Walt Disney Imagineering Paris teams. Another scene features several deer gathered along a rocky stream.

The new scenes are inspired by original sketches from Disney Legend Marc Davis. Marc Davis was one of Disney’s “Nine Old Men,” a group of animators who worked at Walt Disney Productions in its early years. Davis joined Disney in 1935, starting as an animator on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. He later moved to WED and worked on such attractions as Jungle Cruise, Enchanted Tiki Room, Carousel of Progress, “it’s a small world,” The Haunted Mansion, and Country Bear Jamboree.

Guests will catch a glimpse of these new additions while enjoying a cruise aboard the Molly Brown boat, which has recently been renovated from stem to stern.  Since installation work is occurring overnight, Thunder Mesa Riverboat Landing remains open to guests during this time.

The update confirms that the previously delayed project is now moving forward. Earlier plans called for several Marc Davis-inspired wildlife scenes to be added to the Rivers of the Far West, but the additions had not yet appeared despite being announced as part of enhancement efforts around Thunder Mesa Riverboat Landing.
