Taylor Swift and Toy Story 5 Announcement

Taylor Swift has revealed her original song for Toy Story 5, called “I Knew It, I Knew You.” The single is available to pre-purchase on her website and releases this Friday.

The Collector’s Edition CDs include unique vocals and production. It was written and produced by Swift and Jack Antonoff. Disney confirmed the song is inspired by Jessie:
Inspired by the rootin’ tootin’ cowgirl Jessie’s ongoing journey in Toy Story 5 that began back in Toy Story 2, “I Knew It, I Knew You” also marks a return to Swift’s country roots, blending styles that have defined her career as a songwriter and artist.
Andrew Stanton, Toy Story 5 director, said, “It’s incredible just how meaningful it’s been having Taylor write and perform this song. Her connection to Jessie and the immediate way she understood what the character was going through was undeniable. The song is so deeply connected to Toy Story. So much so that on first listen, it instantly felt like it had always belonged there, like a long-lost family member. It was kismet.”

The movie releases in theaters on June 19, which is also the 20th anniversary of the singer’s debut album. Toy Story 5 follows the introduction of Lilypad, an electronic device, into Bonnie’s life. Her attention is then diverted from the classic ensemble of toys previously belonging to Andy.

This morning, a brand-new countdown appeared on taylorswift.com. It was a scene of Jessie on a ranch with the Toy Story 5 billboard on the hill. Rumors have been running rampant the last several days as several TS billboards have popped up around the world. They match the one in the image above.
The Toy Story 5 creative team recently addressed speculation that the singer was performing the ending song for the movie. In an interview with creator Shivani Khosla, Toy Story 5 director Andrew Stanton, co-director McKenna Harris, and producer Lindsey Collins were asked about the Swift rumors. Stanton said the team saw the theory and was surprised by it, calling the speculation “a freakin’ honor.” Collins said a Swift collaboration “would be pretty amazing.”
Swift has worked with Disney before, including a display of her Eras Tour costumes in Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the release of her documentary on Disney+.
