AI Overviews

As you can see above, the AI Overview is labeled “Cast Preview,” insinuating that the function is not yet available to the general public. Right now, it says, “I’m still learning and don’t have information on that topic right now, but I can help with most food and beverage questions.”

As of today, June 12, the overview function is not quite functional yet. It can display that text and populate the “Was this helpful?” up or down vote function, but beyond that, it doesn’t appear to be populating answers yet.

At the time of writing, Disney has yet to make an announcement about this new feature. However, the company has been forthcoming about its inclusion of AI functionality in the future.

Disney and AI

During the Q2 earnings report webcast, CEO Josh D’Amaro spoke candidly about the company employing AI for planning:

A Disney vacation means a lot to our fans, and we’re using AI to reduce the complexities around planning and booking a trip and trying to make that whole experience specifically tailored to what our guests want most.

Disney has already been encouraging its employees to use AI tools more.

Just three months after announcing a three-year partnership with Disney, OpenAI shut down its Sora video platform. Disney said at the time, “We appreciate the constructive collaboration between our teams and what we learned from it, and we will continue to engage with AI platforms to find new ways to meet fans where they are while responsibly embracing new technologies that respect IP and the rights of creators.”

Walt Disney Imagineering was hiring an AI executive in March 2026 to lead the building of an “AI-first platform that will fundamentally change how Imagineering creates.”
