The team here at WDWNT is proud to share our salute to all Muppet fans — but mostly the ones still mourning MuppetVision 3D.
‘A Glorious 3 Day Finale’ Now Free to Watch

One year ago, Disney’s Hollywood Studios said goodbye to MuppetVision 3D, closing the curtain on one of Walt Disney World’s most beloved and most irreverent attractions.
To mark the anniversary, we are proud to share a video record of WDWNT’s A Glorious Finale, the special farewell event we hosted this time last year to celebrate the history, artistry, and enduring legacy of Jim Henson’s final Disney Parks project.
The event brought together several of the creative minds who helped bring MuppetVision 3D to life, including former Imagineers, producers, performers, designers, and effects specialists. Across four videos, the event guests look back at the attraction’s development, production, technical challenges, and lasting impact on Disney and Muppets fans.
The full 4-part series is now available from The Parkhive, our dedicated channel for Disney theme park history, memories, and discovery.
A Glorious Finale Part 1 — Disney Imagineering and The Muppets Join Forces on MuppetVision 3D
The first installment focuses on the earliest creative collaboration between Walt Disney Imagineering and The Jim Henson Company. The panel explores how the attraction came together as Disney and The Muppets found a shared language for theme park storytelling, blending 3D film, audio-animatronics, live-theater gags, and classic Muppet chaos.
The discussion highlights the attraction’s ambitious scope, from the design of the theater and pre-show areas to the challenge of making The Muppets feel at home inside a Disney park without sanding off their signature weirdness.
Special guest appearances include:
- Paul Osterhout
- Eric Jacobson
- Kathy Rogers
- Rita Peruggi
A Glorious Finale Part 2 — Producing & Performing the Foolishness for MuppetVision 3D
Part 2 dives into the production side of the attraction, including the performances, filming, puppet work, and practical effects that made MuppetVision 3D feel like more than a standard 3D movie.
This video is especially important for Muppet fans, as it features a discussion around the characters and comedy that carried the attraction for more than three decades. The panel looks at how the performers and production team balanced scripted gags, technical precision, and the controlled anarchy that defined the finished show.
Special guest appearances include:
- Steve Whitmire
- Rita Peruggi
- Fred Buchholz
- Jim Mulder
A Glorious Finale Part 3 — The Hurdles on the Way to MuppetVision 3D’s Opening Day
The third video turns to the behind-the-scenes challenges of getting MuppetVision 3D ready for opening day at Disney-MGM Studios.
From technical effects to show integration, the panel discusses the many moving parts required to make the attraction function as a complete theatrical experience. MuppetVision 3D was not just a film; it was a theater show, a 3D presentation, an effects showcase, and a Muppet production all happening at once.
The result was an attraction packed with details, from Waldo C. Graphic’s digital antics to in-theater surprises that helped blur the line between screen and stage.
Special guest appearances include:
- Paul Osterhout
- Eric Jacobson
- Kathy Rogers
- Rita Peruggi
- Fred Buchholz

A Glorious Finale Part 4 — Reflecting on the Legacy & Impact of MuppetVision 3D
The final installment shifts from creation to legacy, looking at what MuppetVision 3D meant to Disney Parks, Muppets fans, and the artists who helped create it.
As the final project Jim Henson worked on before his death, the attraction held a unique place in both Disney and Muppet history. This closing panel reflects on why the show connected with audiences for so long, how it represented Henson’s comedic and technical ambition, and why fans continue to mourn its loss a year later.
The video serves as a fitting sendoff for the series, celebrating not just the attraction itself but the community of fans and creators who kept its spirit alive.

Remembering MuppetVision 3D

MuppetVision 3D was a chaotic, joke-filled Hollywood Studios 3D theater attraction starring a wide variety of the Muppets cast as they attempted to showcase “Muppet Labs” 3D technology, although their best intentions (and the theater itself) ultimately fell apart.
The classic Muppets attraction closed as Disney prepared to redevelop the former Grand Avenue/Muppets Courtyard area for a new Monsters, Inc.-themed land.
Official details from Disney regarding any efforts to preserve or archive MuppetVision 3D are still under wraps, but earlier this year, we did hear from Brian Henson himself that the attraction would be archived in a virtual reality format.
The Muppets, meanwhile, retain a presence at Hollywood Studios thanks to the recently reimagined Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets.
