Boarding Alien Swirling Saucers has become a little more orderly with the introduction of assigned rocket numbers.
New Loading Rules

A numbered loading system is now in use on Alien Swirling Saucers at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Cast Members assign each waiting party a number before they enter the ride platform. Guests then proceed to the rocket ride vehicle displaying the corresponding number.

Star-shaped numbered floor markers have been added to the ride’s two boarding areas, giving parties designated places to wait before their ride platform opens. Each number corresponds to one out of eleven rockets available on each of the two platforms.

Matching white numerals appear prominently on the fins of the rockets, making each assigned rocket easier to identify.
The updated procedure may help prevent confusion during loading, particularly because the attraction operates with multiple rockets spread across two neighboring ride platforms. Directing each party to a specific vehicle could also help Cast Members distribute guests and streamline the dispatch process.

In May, Disney filed a permit for work at Alien Swirling Saucers. The permit assigned Icarus Exhibits, Inc. to “install set elements” at the attraction’s address and was set to expire one year after the filing date.
Alien Swirling Saucers sends guests spinning across the floor of an intergalactic playset while the Little Green Men operate their colorful flying saucers. Each alien-piloted saucer tows a rocket carrying the riders, whipping it from side to side as it moves among several rotating platforms. The ride’s score features several compositions from Toy Story, all remixed in a playful electronic style.
While Disney did not disclose what elements were covered by the permit, it is possible that the permit was related to the addition of these numbered boarding markers and vehicle graphics.

Alien Swirling Saucers is not the first Disney spinner to use a numbered boarding process. Dumbo the Flying Elephant at Disneyland has used a similar system since 2018.
