Disneyland Commemorated 71st Anniversary with a Character-Themed Photo Op

Disneyland celebrated its 71st anniversary yesterday, July 17, 2026, with a small selection of birthday offerings, including a commemorative photo-op.

Disneyland celebrated its 71st anniversary on July 17, 2026, with a small selection of birthday offerings, including a commemorative photo-op.

The large circular sign was displayed by Cast Members at the World of Disney, just outside Disneyland Park. The sign reads “Happy 71st Anniversary” above a red Disneyland Resort logo. “July 17th, 2026” is printed underneath, marking 71 years since Disneyland’s opening in 1955.

The sign’s pale blue background was bordered by a gradient that transitions from blue at the top to pink, red, and orange toward the bottom.

Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Goofy, Daisy Duck, Donald Duck, Clarabelle Cow, and Chip ‘n’ Dale surrounded the central anniversary message. Each character was pictured inside or emerging from a colorful circle, accompanied by small diamonds, dots, and starbursts. The costumes depicted and the overall design of the graphic align with the 70th Celebration designs and motifs.

Although special events surrounding the park’s 71st anniversary are understandably limited in scope following the much larger Disneyland 70th campaign, this sign was not the resort’s only acknowledgment of its 71st birthday.

Disneyland presented a 71st-birthday edition of the “Celebrate Happy Cavalcade”. The procession traveled along Main Street, U.S.A. and circled Town Square, continuing a tradition of anniversary cavalcades at Disneyland.

Disneyland also tied the number 71 to a new ticket offer for local residents. Anaheim residents can purchase a one-day, one-park ticket for $71. Sales began July 16, one day before the anniversary, and the tickets are valid for visits from July 20 through October 8, 2026.

Disneyland opened on July 17, 1955, becoming the first Disney theme park and the only one built and operated under Walt Disney’s direct supervision. Its 71st birthday arrived during the final weeks of the Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration, which began May 16, 2025, and continues through August 9, 2026.
