Sassagoula River Cruise at Disney's Old Key West Resort Service Closing For a Few Weeks

Guests staying at Disney’s Old Key West Resort will not be able to access the Sassagoula River Cruise for transportation to Disney Springs for a few weeks during refurbishment.

Boat Closure

We first reported that the river cruise may be interrupted earlier in the month when we received a message about an upcoming reservation at Disney's Old Key West Resort. But refurbishment work will now officially halt the Sassagoula River Cruise from July 20 until early August.

We first reported that the river cruise may be interrupted earlier in the month when we received a message about an upcoming reservation at Disney’s Old Key West Resort. But refurbishment work will now officially halt the Sassagoula River Cruise from July 20 until early August.

Guests will not be able to take the boat to Disney Springs; however, they can still take bus transportation. At the time of writing, no updates have been announced for closures at the other resorts along the Sassagoula River Cruise route: Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter, or Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa.

The Sassagoula River had boundary wall work beginning back in March. At the time, there wasn’t an official announcement about service interruptions due to the construction.

We also recently noticed refurbishment at Disney Springs’ West Side Sassagoula boat dock, including the roof being replaced, though the dock hasn’t reopened since it closed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a reminder, Disney Springs is no longer allowing boat and bus access for non-resort guests.
