The iconic entrance fountain of EPCOT has been inactive for at least two days. Disney may be preparing to remove the coins that are currently in there.

EPCOT Fountain Not Running

We noticed the fountain was not running on Tuesday, July 21 and then again on Wednesday, July 22.

We don’t know if the fountain was purposefully turned off or if there is an issue. There are no signs of construction or maintenance work around the fountain.

We did see a lot of pennies in the bottom of the fountain. It’s possible the fountain has been turned off and drained for removal of the coins.

Coins were recently removed from a reflecting pool near the Imagination! pavilion. Disney periodically removes coins from waterways throughout Walt Disney World and donates the proceeds to Make-A-Wish and Give Kids The World Village.

Based on the fountain that once sat in the same spot when EPCOT opened, this fountain was constructed in 2020 as part of a reimagining of the park’s entrance. It features three lucite pylons etched with the EPCOT logo. Color-changing lights illuminate the fountain at night, synchronizing with Spaceship Earth light shows.
