Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift Spike 'Topped Off' at Universal Studios Florida

Crews have “topped off” the tallest point of Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift at Universal Studios Florida — a 170-foot spike towering over CityWalk.

“Topping off” refers to the completion of the tallest point of a structure. Though it often means the structure is done, there is still more track to be installed on the Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift roller-coaster.

The photos from bioreconstruct on X show that the final pieces of track were added to the spike. Cars will twist 180° as they rise to the top and then descend back down into the rest of the ride.

The “topping off” was marked with an American flag and a Fast & Furious 25th anniversary flag. The first film was released in 2001.

After railings were added near the load station, wheels have been added to the track's motors. These will propel the cars forward.

Protective foam has been strapped over a stretch of propulsion fins, indicating track will soon be installed above. This track takes guests out of the station while the overhead track will take them back.

Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift replaces Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit and is expected to open in 2027. The first version of the coaster, however, will open soon at Universal Studios Hollywood.
