First Look: 'Avengers: Doomsday' Concept Art Reveal Unites the Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four

Marvel Studios has revealed the most expansive look yet at the superhero ensemble assembling for Avengers: Doomsday, bringing together several hero teams from across the Marvel Multiverse.

Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four Assemble

Former Marvel Studios Director of Visual Development Andy Park shared the complete artwork in high resolution on X. Park commented alongside the art:

AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY – the final full film I had the honor of leading as Director of Visual Development at Marvel Studios. This illustration commemorates that journey & reveals the characters & their looks for the first time.

The artwork shows our first comprehensive look at the large cast for the upcoming film, which will bring together various Marvel heroes not only from Earth-199999 (the Marvel Cinematic Universe), but also Earth-828 (Fantastic Four: First Steps) and Earth-10005 (the Fox X-Men film franchise) as they join forces to stand against the infamous Doctor Doom, portrayed by Robert Downey Jr.

Naturally, Doctor Doom is featured in the center, towering over the rest of the composition as the movie’s heroes gather below him. Robert Downey Jr.’s armored villain wears his recognizable metal mask and dark green cloak, continuing the comparatively comic-accurate design previously teased through promotional displays for the film.

The artwork organizes the enormous cast into three distinct smaller groups. Steve Rogers and Thor stand alongside members of the New Avengers, including Yelena Belova, Red Guardian, Ghost, U.S. Agent, Sentry, Winter Soldier, and Ant-Man.

Another group combines Sam Wilson’s Captain America, Falcon, Shang-Chi, Black Panther, and M’Baku with the Fantastic Four. Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and the Thing are all depicted wearing variations of their blue-and-white uniforms.

Several X-Men, as they appeared in the 20th Century Fox films of the 2000s and 2010s, occupy another major section of the illustration. Cyclops appears prominently in a blue-and-yellow uniform inspired by the character’s comic-book costumes, joined by Beast, Mystique, Nightcrawler, Gambit, Magneto, and Professor Charles Xavier.

Interestingly, Loki can also be spotted near the center of the image, nestled between Doom and the three surrounding hero teams. His placement may be particularly significant following the conclusion of Loki Season 2, which we will deliberately not spoil here (though we will suggest the implications of that finale may play a significant role in the upcoming film).

As with most concept art, the image should not necessarily be interpreted as a literal depiction of a completed scene. Character placement, costumes, and even the featured roster could change during production. However, Park confirmed that the illustration reveals the characters and their looks, making it the clearest official indication yet of how Marvel Studios is visually approaching its next Avengers crossover.

Marvel Studios’ original cast announcement confirmed many of those returning performers through a multi-hour livestream in March 2025. The official roster notably united actors from the current MCU with several stars of 20th Century Fox’s earlier X-Men film series. Marvel later confirmed through the film’s teaser campaign that Steve Rogers, Thor, the X-Men, the Wakandans, and the Fantastic Four would all return.

Downey, who previously played Tony Stark/Iron Man throughout the Infinity Saga, was announced as Victor von Doom during San Diego Comic-Con in 2024. The role marks his return to the MCU in an entirely different identity, although Marvel has not explained whether Doom’s resemblance to Stark will be addressed in the story.

About Avengers: Doomsday

Green and silver "Avengers: Doomsday" title with "Now in Production" text below, on a dark green background. Marvel fans eagerly await what might become the next stream record breaker.

Marvel has described the movie as a collision between heroes from three distinct universes who must confront an existential threat. The concept art reinforces that multiversal premise by placing the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and returning X-Men together beneath Doctor Doom.

Anthony and Joe Russo, who previously directed Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame, return to direct. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is among the film’s producers.

Avengers: Doomsday will be released in theaters on December 18, 2026. It will be followed by Avengers: Secret Wars, currently scheduled for December 17, 2027.
