Four Next Generation Pressed Penny Machines Installed at Magic Kingdom

Four new Disney pressed penny machines have been installed around Magic Kingdom, replacing older machines, some of which previously featured a hand crank for pressing the souvenir coins. The new machines feature large touch screens and updated tap-to-pay points.

Walt Disney World Resort is rolling out new technical updates to the popular and age-old souvenir, judging by this handful of updated kiosks.

Each machine offers eight pressed penny designs. Guests can purchase one pressed penny for $1 or the full set of eight for $5. Three of the new machines offer the same designs as their predecessors, with pennies themed to Aladdin, Country Bear Jamboree, and Pirates of the Caribbean.

One new machine in Liberty Square featured coins themed to America’s 250th anniversary, which will presumably remain available throughout the 250th anniversary year of the nation.

Liberty Square – America 250

One new pressed penny machine is located near the Liberty Square Ticket Office, specifically closest to the seating area adjacent to Sleepy Hollow.

This set celebrates America’s 250th anniversary with patriotic Disney character designs. The pennies feature characters including Pluto, Mickey Mouse, Stitch, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy in various patriotic scenes decorated with stars, fireworks, American flags, and “Happy 250th” text.

Adventureland Breezeway

Another new pressed penny machine is located in the Adventureland Breezeway. The machine is positioned beside a Walt Disney World collectible medallion kiosk.

This set is themed to Aladdin and features eight character designs, including Genie, Jasmine, Aladdin and Jasmine riding the Magic Carpet, Jafar, Abu, Aladdin holding the lamp, Abu, Rajah, and Iago.

The machine itself has a lighter cream-colored cabinet, with a touchscreen display above the pressing mechanism. For comparison, you can see the differences between the tap-to-pay point on the new machine to the left against older devices such as the collectible medallion kiosk on the right.

Country Bear Jamboree

Another new pressed penny machine is located inside the Country Bear Jamboree lobby. This set features characters from the classic attraction, including several bear performers, including Wendell, Big Al, Romeo, Henry, Gomer, Bunny, Bubbles, and Beulah, Teddi Barra, and Fred.

The machine is built into a dark wood-style cabinet, matching the rustic interior of the attraction lobby.

Pirates of the Caribbean

The fourth new pressed penny machine is located near the restrooms by Pirates of the Caribbean.

This set is themed to Pirates of the Caribbean and features eight pirate-inspired Disney designs. The pennies include Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Donald Duck, Chip and Dale, and other pirate imagery, including a treasure chest and ship-themed artwork.

Several designs include the Pirates of the Caribbean logo, with characters wearing pirate hats, holding swords, or posed with nautical and treasure-themed elements.

The machine has a darker, riveted cabinet design that fits the surrounding Pirates of the Caribbean area.

Pressed penny machines remain a popular collectible option throughout Walt Disney World, especially because full sets are relatively inexpensive compared to many other souvenirs. Visitors can find dozens of these machines across all four parks and other properties throughout the resort.
