Another interactive element in the Jurassic Park Discovery Center at Universal Islands of Adventure has been removed. The interactive scanners on the rock wall are gone.

Jurassic Park Discovery Center Changes

The scanners used to be mounted on vertical poles over the “Discovering Dinosaurs” rock wall. Guests could move them up and down to highlight different fossils and learn about the species.

The wall remains but with no interactive element.

There are strips of black scrim along the bottom of the wall to cover signs of the removal.

Other changes to the Discovery Center in the past few years include the removal of the Beasaur interactive periscope. Guests could see through a dinosaur’s eyes and move its head around. This went away after the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020.

The baby Triceratops also no longer visits the Discovery Center. The Triceratops returned in 2021 but ended permanently in 2023.

The Discovery Center has largely become a store, but guests can still witness the hatching of a baby Velociraptor.
