Orlando International Airport Pays Homage to Carousel of Progress Before Ride's Reimagining

The Orlando International Airport (MCO) is celebrating the Fourth of July and paying homage to Carousel of Progress on social media.

They posted an image of an employee dressed like John, the main character of Carousel of Progress, in the ride’s 1920s scene. Instead of a Niagara Falls fan, he holds an Orlando fan.

MCO quoted the scene, writing, “Whew, boy! 😅💦 Hottest 4th of July we’ll have in years! Keep cool and enjoy a great, big, beautiful tomorrow! 🇺🇸”

It will be a hot Independence Day for Orlando, with temperatures expected to reach 90°F on the holiday, according to Weather.com.

After this weekend, Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress at Magic Kingdom will close for a timeline shift. When it reopens in 2027, the ride will begin in the 1960s instead of the early 1900s. A Walt Disney Audio-Animatronic will introduce the experience.

July 5 will be the last day to experience the current version of Carousel of Progress.
