We tried the new drinks and dishes at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, including the Korean Barbecue Sandwich, Marble Swirled Cheesecake, and Pandoran Sunrise with Rum.
New Disney’s Animal Kingdom Menu Items
Flame Tree Barbecue

Flame Tree Barbecue is on Discovery Island near the Zootopia: Better Zoogether! entrance.
Korean Barbecue Sandwich – $12.49
Featuring Impossible Beef with Pickled Vegetables, Gochujang Mayonnaise, and Cilantro served on a Sourdough Baguette with French Fries

Our first observation is that, visually, the meat is not pleasant to look at. The flavor of the meat is pretty good, even though it more closely resembles a pressed hamburger patty. While the flavor of the gochujang, with just a little bit of spice, and the quality of the bread are both good, there is way too much bread for the amount of meat. A second piece of meat would be appreciated.
The French fries were also underwhelming.

Pizzafari

Find Pizzafari on the other side of Discovery Island, near Island Mercantile.
Creamy Pesto Chicken Pasta – $13.29
Topped with Toasted Garlic Bread Crumbs served with Garlic Bread

The garlic toast is good, the chicken is incredibly tender and way better than we could have possibly fathomed. The sauce is not real Italian, but it is creamy, zesty, and very good. This is a real big dish and will keep you full for a long time. The pasta is cooked right, and we would have rated it a 6 if there was just a little bit more sauce. This was a surprisingly solid dish.

Marble Swirled Cheesecake – $6.49
with Vanilla Whipped Cream, Chocolate Sauce, Mini Brownies, and Chocolate Zebra Stripes

This was dense, creamy, and had a lot of fudge flavor to enjoy. This had a fantastic texture, almost like a ricotta texture. The brownie and the fudge add a very pleasant chocolate aftertaste. All around, this is absolutely fantastic.

Satu’li Canteen

In Pandora – The World of Avatar, Satu’li Canteen has two new drinks joining the new Spicy Pork Steamed “Pods”, which we already reviewed.
Specialty Chai Cold Brew -$6.29
Chai Tea, Oat Milk, and Joffrey’s Cold Brew Coffee topped with Whipped Cream and Chai Spice

This was good and we did not hate it, but it does not compare to the Frozen Chai Joffrey’s drink in Asia at Animal Kingdom.
Rating without alcohol out of 7: 5
The alcoholic version adds a float of Bacardi Silver rum to the base drink. The drink with alcohol is better than the non-alcoholic version. We can taste the rum, but it is masked by the flavor of the drink. It is a little bit sweeter tasting, and we liked this one a lot.

Pandoran Sunrise with Rum – $15.50
DOLE Pineapple Juice and Minute Maid Limeade blended with POWERADE Melon and POWERADE Fruit Punch topped with Bacardí Superior Rum

This is a basic Tiki drink. It is not overly sweet, and the rum is not too strong. We found it well balanced, tangy, refreshing, and not too sugary.

Tiffins also has two new drinks that we did not try. The Yuzu Amarillo Cocktail ($16.50) is Sango African Agave Spirit, Passion Fruit, Yuzu, Aji Amarillo, House-made Simple Syrup, Sesame Oil. The Orange Carajillo ($18.50) is Joffrey’s Sumatra Shade Grown Espresso and Licor 43 Liqueur.
