Peter Parker (Tom Holland) runs into Argentine footballer Lionel Messi in a new teaser for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

In the teaser, Peter sees Messi using the Spidey Tracker to look for Spider-Man. Peter runs off and Spider-Man returns, offering to take Messi for a swing through NYC.

The scene is likely just some marketing synergy with the World Cup and isn’t in the new film, but we’ll consider it a deleted scene.

Tom Holland stars as Peter Parker / Spider-Man in the Sony MCU series, alongside Zendaya as MJ Jones-Watson and Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds. Sadie Sink and Eman Esfandi have been cast in undisclosed roles.

Jon Bernthal reprises his role as Frank Castle / Punisher from other MCU projects. Michael Mando is back as Mac Gargan / Scorpion, having previously appeared in Spider-Man: Homecoming. And Mark Ruffalo will appear as Bruce Banner / Hulk.

Brand New Day is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay by Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers, and Justin Kuritzkes.

Tickets are available for the film, which is in theaters on July 31, 2026.
