Din Djarin and Grogu are making the jump from the big screen to home screens, almost two months to the day after its theatrical debut.

The Mandalorian and Grogu Home Video Release

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu will be available to purchase and rent through digital video-on-demand platforms on Tuesday, July 21.

The release is expected to go live at midnight Eastern Time, meaning viewers on the West Coast may find it available beginning at 9 p.m. Pacific Time on July 20.

The film will be offered through retailers including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home. The film is expected to list for $29.99 to purchase and $24.99 to rent, though prices may vary by platform.

The digital debut comes approximately two months after The Mandalorian and Grogu opened in theaters on May 22. The film marked the first new theatrical installment in the Star Wars franchise since Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was released in 2019.

Continuing the story of the Disney+ series The Mandalorian, the movie follows Din Djarin and his Force-sensitive apprentice, Grogu, as they assist the New Republic. Their mission involves rescuing Rotta the Hutt, the son of Jabba the Hutt.

Jon Favreau directed the film and co-wrote its screenplay with Dave Filoni and Noah Kloor. Favreau and Filoni previously collaborated extensively on The Mandalorian and other interconnected Disney+ series set during the New Republic era.

The film earned approximately $342.2 million worldwide, making it the lowest-grossing live-action theatrical release in the Star Wars franchise. It received a more enthusiastic response from audiences than critics, holding a 60% critics score and an 87% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes as of the previously announced home-release dates.

As we covered last week, a 4K Ultra HD physical release will follow in late August, with Blu-ray and DVD editions also expected. A Disney+ streaming date has not yet been announced.
