The Golden Dream Makes a Brief Appearance in World Showcase Lagoon on July Fourth

The Golden Dream has been hidden from guests’ view for many months and was briefly spotted today on World Showcase Lagoon by the Mexico Pavilion at EPCOT before returning backstage.

The Golden Dream Makes a Brief Appearance in World Showcase Lagoon on July Fourth

The Golden Dream is a historically accurate replica of a 1776 Continental sloop in World Showcase Lagoon. The ship was built in 1993 and pays tribute to the American Revolutionary War and takes its name from the finale song of The American Adventure show. It has been many months since the Golden Dream has been seen in World Showcase Lagoon, and our reporter spotted the ship out on the water for a short period of time near the Mexico Pavilion before it was returned backstage.

The ship was out at the same time as the Air Force flyover at Magic Kingdom and EPCOT for America’s 250th Independence Day. A single HC-130 Combat King II aircraft, flown by the 39th Rescue Squadron, and two HH-60 Jolly Green II Helicopters, flown by the 301st Rescue Squadron, part of the 920th Rescue Wing from Patrick Space Force Base in Florida, first flew over Magic Kingdom and then EPCOT shortly after.

The Golden Dream was used as a pirate ship in the Disney Sing Along Songs video Beach Party at Walt Disney World.

“Golden Dream” is also the sweeping, patriotic theme song of the American Adventure show. It plays during the show’s grand finale, accompanied by a montage of American historical moments and figures. The song features inspirational lyrics and includes famous audio excerpts from John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., and the Apollo 11 moon landing.

Yesterday, Walt Disney Imagineering released another episode of Great Moments in Walt Disney Imagineering focusing on The American Adventure at EPCOT.
