Guests waiting to return to Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace may have to wait a little longer than expected for the bar’s full reopening.

Indefinite Reopening for Tiki Terrace

The Tiki Terrace closed in mid-April as refurbishment work continued around the Great Ceremonial House. Scaffolding has covered portions of the resort’s main building, including areas near the outdoor lounge, as crews refurbish the structure’s exterior.

WDW Magic recently reported a reopening timeline set for late October, citing the Walt Disney World Resort website.

The official website lists the following notice:

“Through late October, Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will be temporarily closed due to refurbishment work at the Grand Ceremonial House.”

However, since this was reported, the language has been taken down from the Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace webpage and replaced with a message that does not list a reopening timeline or date at all:

It reads:

Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace is currently closed for refurbishment. Please check back here for updates.

Meanwhile, the Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort webpage still has the previous “through late June” timeframe. Here is a screenshot from July 14:

The My Disney Experience app also indicates simply that the terrace is currently closed:

With the message indicating Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace will be temporarily closed through late October, briefly appearing on the website, this points to an extension past summer as a possibility. We will monitor the official Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace website for any additional updates.

Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace is the open-air counterpart to Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto. The terrace ordinarily offers tropical cocktails, food from the Grog Grotto menu, live music, and outdoor seating near Seven Seas Lagoon.

The indoor Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto remains open during the terrace closure. The themed lounge currently operates daily from 11 a.m. until midnight. Guests of all ages may enter until 8 p.m., after which the venue is limited to guests ages 21 and older.

Beyond the updated information here, Disney has not suggested a new timeline or specific reopening date for the outdoor Tiki Terrace area.
