You’re going to need a bigger shelf to display this new Jaws three-piece tiki mug set. A display at San Diego Comic-Con offered a first look at new Jaws-themed tiki drinkware featuring concept art by artist SHAG, the professional pseudonym of prolific tiki artist Josh Agle.

The upcoming collection from Mondo is titled “We Need a Bigger Boat,” of course referencing one of the most famous lines from Steven Spielberg’s 1975 thriller.

The centerpiece consists of two separate stoneware ceramic vessels that combine to recreate the climactic confrontation between the great white shark and the Orca.

One mug is shaped like the shark as it rises from a series of curling blue waves. Its enormous open mouth, lined with pointed white teeth and a bright red interior, forms the drinking vessel’s opening. The accompanying mug depicts the Orca pitching upward amid another mass of stylized waves.

A third, smaller shot-sized piece resembles one of the yellow barrels used by Quint’s crew to track and tire the shark. The barrel-shaped vessel features sculpted rope, a recessed panel, and the Jaws title across its front.

When displayed together, the shark appears to be lunging toward the stern of the Orca. The dramatically angled composition recalls the film’s final sequence, in which the damaged boat begins sinking while Chief Brody, Quint and Hooper attempt to stop the shark.

The Comic-Con placard credits SHAG with the concept art, Tufan Sezer with the sculpt, and Tiki Farm with glazing and manufacturing. The pieces displayed are prototypes, and the sign warns that the final products from Mondo may differ from the prototypes.

SHAG is known for a distinctive style drawing from mid-century commercial illustration, tiki culture, and the visual aesthetics of the 1950s and 1960s. Agle’s designs have become especially popular among Disney, Universal and tiki collectors, and he has previously created artwork and merchandise inspired by several theme park properties.

Mondo is a pop-culture collectibles company whose product lineup includes an extensive selection of officially licensed tiki mugs. Its ceramic drinkware frequently transforms characters, creatures and memorable imagery from films Jurassic Park, Godzilla and Universal’s classic monster movies into sculptured vessels. The mugs are often released in limited quantities and multiple color variants, making them especially popular among horror, film and tiki collectors.

No release date, price, capacity, or edition size was announced. The collection was simply labeled “Coming Soon.”
