VIDEO: Final Carousel of Progress Show Before Reimagining

The final performance of the 1994 version of Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress at Magic Kingdom took place on July 5, 2026. The ride is now closed until 2027 for its biggest reimagining ever, which will shift the setting to the latter half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century.

Watch our video of the final show:

Since its opening at the 1964 – 1965 New York World’s Fair, the Carousel of Progress has taken guests through the history of the American family beginning around the turn of the century. Though the final scene’s setting has changed over the years, the first three scenes have always taken place in the early 1900s, the 1920s, and the 1940s.

The latest iteration of the Carousel of Progress opening in 2027 will feature scenes taking place in 1969, 1985, 1999, and the distant future. It will also feature an introduction from an audio-animatronic Walt Disney, which will represent the company’s founder in 1964 when he introduced the attraction at the New York World’s Fair.
