The final performance of the 1994 version of Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress at Magic Kingdom took place on July 5, 2026. The ride is now closed until 2027 for its biggest reimagining ever, which will shift the setting to the latter half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century.
Final Show – Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress
Watch our video of the final show:
Since its opening at the 1964 – 1965 New York World’s Fair, the Carousel of Progress has taken guests through the history of the American family beginning around the turn of the century, moving through the 1940s, and then taking a look into the future.
Though there have been changes over the years, particularly to the final scene, the timeline has always remained the same.

The new version of Carousel of Progress expected to open next year will begin in the 1960s. A new introduction will feature a Walt Disney animatronic in a scene inspired by the 1964 special “Disneyland Goes to the World’s Fair.”
The ride scenes will then be set in 1969, 1985, 1999, and the possible future.
