Walt Disney Imagineering Shares Behind the Scenes Look at The American Adventure at EPCOT

Walt Disney Imagineering has released another episode of Great Moments in Walt Disney Imagineering. This time, the episode focuses on The American Adventure at EPCOT.

As a note, this is a much longer behind-the-scenes look than the short video we reported on in mid-June.

Behind the Scenes

Ken, executive creative development for Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI), begins the video by showing how The American Adventure works backstage. He shows off the system that operates the figures and the audio-animatronic characters in the show. For example, he shows that there are cards per movement, as each movement of the animatronics require their own card.

For example, he shows that there are cards for each movement, creating a lot of spots for each figure.

From there, he demonstrates how the sets are put into place with up-close views of the animatronic characters.

The video description reads:

The American Adventure at EPCOT is one of the greatest engineering marvels that Walt Disney Imagineering has created. Show sets are connected together on a giant moving mechanism that has the ability to go back and forth and lift the scenes up and down behind a massive rear projected screen to bring the story of the United States of America to life.

What makes this special?

• Go onstage and backstage to see how the carriage with show scenes moves forward, backwards, up, and down

• Hear how the show has been upgraded over the years to be more technologically advanced and figures more lifelike
