Will Ferrell shared with Amy Poehler that during his short employment with Disneyland, he wanted to be a Jungle Cruise skipper. When he realized that dream would not become a reality, he gave Disney a hilarious excuse for quitting.
Will Ferrell Wanted to be a Skipper

In the video, he said he quickly realized the people who work as Jungle Cruise skippers are there for several years before they get the opportunity to take on the role. Instead, he was assigned to the front ticket booths at Disneyland.
He then goes on to explain he had a rival offer to work at his friend’s surf shop in Newport Beach for the same pay. Ferrell was too embarrassed to call Disney and quit after just one day, so he had his friend call for him.
When Disneyland asked for the reason, his friend explained that Ferrell had a tryout with the football team the Dallas Cowboys.
Watch Ferrell tell the story in his own words below:
Jungle Cruise is an opening day attraction at Disneyland where guests can take a guided tour of the world’s most remote rivers where adventure abounds—and the animals get the last laugh.
The original was based on Disney’s award-winning True-Life Adventure films, so the attraction had a more educational tone. In the early 1960s, Walt Disney introduced more drama and asked animator Marc Davis to sketch some humorous gags. Skippers bring a lot of humor to the experience by telling funny jokes and puns.
