First Trailer Released for Marvel & Sony’s ‘Madame Web’ Starring Dakota Johnson

Sony has released the first trailer for “Madame Web,” the next film in their Spider-Man Universe. The film stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a.k.a. Madame Web, who has psychic abilities allowing her to see into the “spider world.”

The cast also includes Sydney Sweeney as Julia Carpenter, who is destined to become Spider-Woman, as well as Celeste O’Connor and Isabela Merced, two other girls with Spider futures. Tahar Rahim portrays the villain, Ezekiel Sims. “Madame Web” also stars Mike Epps, Emma Roberts, and Adam Scott.

The film was originally to be penned by “Morbius” writers Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, but the screenplay is now credited to Claire Parker and SJ Clarkson. Clarkson, who also executive produced and directed episodes of “Jessica Jones” and “The Defenders,” directs “Madame Web. Parker and Adam Merims executive produce, and Lorenzo di Bonaventura produces.

Here is the film’s synopsis:

“Meanwhile, in another universe…” In a switch from the typical genre, Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing’s most enigmatic heroines. The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures…if they can all survive a deadly present.

“Madame Web” follows “Venom,” “Venom: Let There Be Carnage,” and “Morbius” as part of the live-action SSU (Sony’s Spider-Man Universe). Upcoming films include a third “Venom,” “Kraven the Hunter,” and “El Muerto.”

“Madame Web” will be released on February 14, 2024.
