More remnants of the former Splash Mountain attraction are being removed to make way for the upcoming Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, as the Laughin’ Place play area has been demolished in Magic Kingdom.
Laughin’ Place Play Area Demolished
The play structure that once made up the Laughin’ Place play area has now been almost completely torn down. Only the framing of the structure remains.
The play area’s sign remains on one post, seen at the center of the photo above. This sign was put up in January of 2023, replacing the previous sign that read “Welcome to the Laughin’ Place” and featured an illustration of Br’er Rabbit, thus removing the reference to “Song of the South.”
The area is filled with construction supplies, including cinder blocks and wood planks. Work on the new Tiana’s Bayou Adventure attraction can be seen in the distance. There is no word on whether a “The Princess and the Frog”-themed play area will be built to fill the space, or if this will simply be more queue.
Here’s a look at the Laughin’ Place play area from January 2023. Located under the Frontierland Train Station, the play area closed with the park in 2020 during the COVID-19 closures, and reopened in June of 2021.
