Mel’s Drive-In at Universal Studios Florida is getting closer to reopening, after a seven-month closure. Mel’s initially closed for an interior refurbishment back in July 2023, but the plastic has finally come down from the windows, offering us a glimpse at the restaurant’s updated interior and new menu.
Mel’s Drive-In Updated Menu
While we couldn’t read all the menu details through the windows, a new Mel’s Drive-In menu was briefly posted on the Universal Orlando Resort website a few weeks ago. Though it almost immediately disappeared, we did screenshot the menu and have been waiting to confirm it was correct. We’ve compared it to the screen menu.
Chili Cheese Hot Dog
1/4 lb 100% beef dog sliced and grilled with chopped onions and chili cheese sauce on a poppyseed bun
Big Bopper Burger
Beef patty with cheddar cheese, bacon strips, and onion rings topped with barbecue
Crispy Chicken Fingers
Flash-fried chicken fingers served with choice of dipping sauce
Mel’s Famous Burger
Beef patty with cheddar cheese, pickles, secret sauce, lettuce, and tomato on a toasted sesame seed bun
Vegan Field Roast Chili Dog
Three-bean chili with lentils, hominy, chopped onions, and vegan cheddar cheese on a poppyseed bun
California Cobb Salad
Lettuce, applewood smoked bacon, crispy chicken breast, green onions, egg, tomato, blue cheese crumbles, and avocado ranch dressing
Crispy Chicken Sandwich
Hand-breaded chicken breast, lettuce, tomato, and avocado ranch on a sesame seed bun
We could not see a list of desserts, but these papers appeared to display information on how to prepare a vanilla shake, cookies and cream pie, and apple pie.
The menu screens are small, so there may be some other items we couldn’t make out. Prices weren’t clear, either, so be sure to stay tuned for more details when the restaurant reopens.
Circus McGurkus at Islands of Adventure just reopened from their refurbishment with a delicious new menu, so we’re looking forward to trying everything Mel’s Drive-In has to offer when they reopen. Keep an eye out for our review soon!
