REVIEW: Alcoholic Concoctions & New Disney Villains Sweets from Candy Cauldron at Disney Springs

Disney’s Candy Cauldron has soft reopened at Disney Springs with new items, including Frozen Glaciers, “Poison” Apple Cookies, and more. We tried some of these new items today. Read on for our review of each.

Disney’s Candy Cauldron New Item Review

A table holds two new items: sugar skull-themed desserts, one resembling a caramel apple from the Candy Cauldron, and the other a cookie. In the background are two colorful drinks with gummy candy toppings. Bushes are visible in the background, inviting you to start trying these festive treats.

Though Candy Cauldron doesn’t officially reopen from its August refurbishment until tomorrow, September 24, we were able to try out some of the newest offerings during today’s soft reopening.

Fanta Blue Raspberry Glacier with Whiskey – $13.50

A menu titled "Frozen Glaciers" offers various beverages, featuring Cherry "Poison" Apple, Standard drinks, Cauldron Brew, and new items like the Candy Cauldron. Options with or without alcohol are available, with prices and additional toppings listed.

There are multiple Frozen Glacier varieties available at Candy Cauldron. The standard Frozen Glacier flavors are Coca-Cola, Fanta Blue Raspberry, Fanta Wild Cherry, and Minute Maid Lemonade. When we went today, the Minute Maid Lemonade flavor was not ready to be served.

You can also upgrade your Frozen Glacier and add alcohol. The alcohol options are rum, tequila, vodka, whiskey, and cinnamon whiskey. Any alcohol can be added to any Frozen Glacier. We elected to try Fanta Blue Raspberry with whiskey.

A hand holds a plastic cup filled with a blue frozen beverage in front of a red wall. A small white spoon rests on the side of the cup, one of the enticing new items at Candy Cauldron.

For some reason, the Frozen Glaciers here seemed less mixed than they at Goofy’s Candy Company or the various other locations that sell frozen drinks. The combination of being less mixed and whiskey actually made for a really pleasant combination.

Overall, it’s nothing special. After all, it’s just a blue raspberry frozen drink with whiskey in it. That said, if that’s what you want, then this will definitely hit the spot.

Cauldron Brew Glacier – $8.99

A hand holds a plastic cup with a new item: bubble tea topped with marshmallows, gummy candies, and sprinkles. A straw is inserted through the lid. In the background, there's a decorative green poison apple image from the Candy Cauldron.

This won’t change your life, but it’s still good. At the end of the day, it’s just frozen Coke with a layer of Frozen Fanta Wild Cherry, and then another layer of frozen Coke. The twist here is that the drink is topped with marshmallows, gummy worms, and sour apple rings.

The presentation is great, and that is always a plus. Ultimately, this is a basic item elevated by a few pieces of candy, and sometimes, that’s just what you want.

You can add additional toppings for $1 each.

“Poison” Apple Cookie – $6.49

A hand holding a red apple-shaped cookie decorated with a green icing dripping pattern that resembles a skull. This new item from our Candy Cauldron collection is sure to enchant your taste buds.

This was atrocious. Only get it if you want something cute for a photo and don’t care about taste. Even then, we wouldn’t recommend actually buying this.

The shortbread was super dry and stale, and it was only saved by the light icing. Unfortunately, there wasn’t enough icing to completely save this from being a disaster.

Cherry “Poison” Apple – $10.99

Hand holding a new item: a small candy apple from the Candy Cauldron, wrapped in clear plastic with a green melted design, tied with a red and white string. Background shows an outdoor area with a building and people walking.

This was surprisingly very good. We were expecting it to be overly sweet, but the sweetness is actually very subtle. The cherry flavor isn’t overpowering, and there was just enough of it.

Like all of these candy apples, it was super hard to cut, though we did have an easier time just picking it up and biting it. The presentation is fantastic, and unlike the cookie, the flavor actually matches.

New Packaged Candy

A hand holding three packets of snacks with character-themed designs and various flavors including cookies and creme, sour grape, and fiery jalapeno from Candy Cauldron. A waterfront background is visible, perfect for trying this new item.

Disney’s Candy Cauldron opened with three new packaged candies. The packaging for each item features an iconic Disney villain, and some villains would surely be prouder of the candy associated with them than others.

What a Hottie! – $5.49

Prepackaged candy at Disney Parks tends to result in cheap milk chocolate, so we were very surprised to find that the quality of this was actually pretty good. The tasty chocolate combined with the fairly intense spice of the jalapeño additives made this an enjoyable quick treat.

Sadly, the candy bar doesn’t have a design on it. Really, that’s the only thing that could have made it any better.

Cruella De Vil Cookies & Cream Bar-k – $5.49

This was as bad as we thought the What a Hottie! bar was going to be. The white chocolate is incredibly low quality, and because of that, it doesn’t taste good at all. There’s also a very bad ratio of cookie to chocolate. You get very little crunch and almost no flavor. Don’t waste your time with this.

Ursula Sour Octopus Gummies – $6.99

Two gummy candies shaped like flowers with a sugar coating are placed on a metallic surface. Each candy has a round center with multi-colored petals. This delightful treat is the latest new item from Candy Cauldron, perfect for adding a touch of whimsy to any sweet collection.

This is a cute prepackaged treat where the gummies are octopi. This is very standard, but we still enjoyed them quite a bit. They aren’t overly sour, so even if you don’t enjoy sour treats, you may enjoy a bag of these.
