Permits Filed for Disney Villains Show Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Disney has filed a construction permit for the new Villains-themed show coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios next summer.

Construction Permits Filed for Disney Villains Show

A vibrant stage show at Disney's Hollywood Studios features various characters in colorful costumes and dynamic poses against a backdrop of framed images. An audience watches the performance, reminiscent of a Disney Villains Show, under dramatic lighting.

A “general construction” permit was filed with Whiting-Turner Contracting Company. This construction permit would be valid until September 27, 2025. The contractor has worked with Disney in the past, namely on Tomorrowland Launch Depot ahead of the opening of TRON Lightcycle / Run and World Celebration Gardens.

The new Disney villains show will be located in Sunset Showcase on Sunset Boulevard, near Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. The “general construction” permit doesn’t offer any details on what work will specifically be done to transform the space.

Currently, Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy is in the Sunset Showcase theater and has been since its opening in March 2019. The show is scheduled to close on October 7, 2024.

Lightning McQueen appears in the show as a life-sized animatronic taking the audience on high-speed racing simulations. You can watch the show in our video above.
